A Letter From PCT Director Linda Lewis

I am delighted to announce that PCT has received an award from Grants for the Arts which will allow us to continue the strategically important work we have been delivering during 2009/10.

There is a clear need and demand for the services and initiatives we can offer artists. Last year we were instrumental in delivering the highly acclaimed ‘Big Ideas’ Conference Event with a range of partners including The University of Winchester, The Independent Street Arts Network, The UK Centre for Carnival Arts, and Emergency Exit Arts.

The funding for activities in 2011 will enable us to continue to work collaboratively to the advantage of all artists and venues interested in developing puppetry as an artform.

Puppetry has become fashionable again and we aim to raise the game by offering Continued Professional Development opportunities and mentoring for emerging artists and those in mid-career wishing to develop new skills.

Do come along and see our Puppetry Snax at the Tara Studios in Earlsfield London on 28 and 29 January and our CSSD/BAC/PCT Graduate residents showcase at BAC on Thursday 3 February.
We are currently discussing a lecture series in partnership with the Little Angel Theatre which will begin in spring next year.

In 2011 our puppetry residencies will take place at Farnham Maltings in Farnham, mac in Birmingham and Bristol Old Vic as part of the Ferment programme.

If you are interested in taking part in Puppetry Snax in January or applying for the residencies, please find the relevant information on our website and e-mail me for further information and an application form.

PCT is looking forward to an even more active and exciting year in 2011 and hope that we can offer something to interest you in our programme of work. Let me know if there is anything that you are particularly interested in.

In the meantime, we wish you all the very best for 2011. Keep warm, safe and creative.

Linda Lewis
