photo evidence of the surreal experience that was World Puppetry Day, 21st March 2004, as puppeteers all over the UK took their little friends out and about for the day. Thanks to everyone who submitted images taken on the day. Here's a selection:

Tesco's car park, Bristol, on an ordinary Sunday morning sees a mangy mutt abandoned in his owners' car, yowling, growling, dropping his toy, and occasionally enjoying a tickle behind the ears from passing shoppers. Observers were left none the wiser about the reason for this strange happening, but seemed to enjoy the surprise nonetheless.

Marc Parrett and Lizzie Philps set themselves the challenge of coming up with a piece of impromptu puppetry in an evening, and are now thinking about turning this into a piece of street theatre, adding dog trainer Daphne Bathhouse and a litter of puppies to the experience. Watch this space!

Thanks to: Suzy Kemp and Jo Munton of Vagabondi Puppets for Pixie and Mermaid celebrating the equinox at Averbury Stone Circle.
